အဂၤလိပ္စာ ေဝါဟာရအသုံးအႏႈန္းမ်ား အပုိင္း (၃) - "a little" and "a few" အသုံးျပဳပုံ

• ဒီပုိ႔စ္မွာလည္း “some” and “any” လိုပဲ Spoken English မွာျဖစ္ျဖစ္၊ Written English မွာ ျဖစ္ျဖစ္ အသုံးျပဳရာမွာ မွားတတ္ေလ့ရွိတဲ့ “a little” and “a few” တုိ႔ ဘယ္အခ်ိန္ ဘယ္လိုသုံးရမယ္ဆုိတာ ရွင္းျပေပးသြားမွာပါ။

• A little ေရာ A few ႏွစ္မ်ဳိးစလုံးကုိ အေရအတြက္အားျဖင့္နည္းပါးတဲ့အေျခအေန (Describing a small quantity) အတြက္ သုံးပါတယ္။

• ပုံမွန္အားျဖင့္ေတာ့ “a few” ကုိ Countable Noun နဲ႕တြဲသုံးျပီးေတာ့ “a little” ကုိေတာ့ Uncountable  Noun ေတြအတြက္ သုံးပါတယ္။ ေအာက္ပါဥပမာတုိ႔ကုိေလ့လာၾကည့္ပါ။

Describing a small quantity (a few)

• -      There are a few peas.
• -      There are a few peaches.
• -      There are a few raspberries.

• အထက္ပါဥပမာေတြသုံးထားတဲ့ Noun ေတြဟာ တစ္ခုႏွစ္ခု စသည္ျဖင့္ ေရတြက္လို႔ရႏုိင္တဲ့ countable noun မ်ား ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

“a few” သုံးျပီးဆုိကတည္းက တစ္ခုထက္ပုိတဲ့ အေျခအေနေတြ၊ အေနအထားေတြမွာ သုံးရမွာျဖစ္တဲ့အတြက္ “a few” နဲ႔တြဲသုံးတဲ့ Noun ဟာ Plural ပုံစံျဖစ္ရပါတယ္။

ဒါေၾကာင့္ a few + countable nouns ပုံစံျဖစ္တဲ့အတြက္ ၄င္းကုိ တုိက္ရုိက္ေဖာ္ညႊန္းမဲ့ “verb” ဟာလည္းပဲ Plural ပုံစံပဲ ျဖစ္ရပါမယ္။ အထက္ပါဥပမာ စာေၾကာင္းမ်ားမွာ highlight လုပ္ေပးထားပါတယ္။ 

ဆက္လက္ျပီး “a little” ရဲ့ အသုံးျပဳပုံမ်ားေလ့လာၾကည့္ရေအာင္ပါ။

Describing a small quantity (a little)

• -      There is a little pasta.
• -      There is a little soup.
• -      There is a little sugar.

အထက္ပါဥပမာေတြမွာ သုံးထားတဲ့ Noun မ်ားကုိ သတိျပဳၾကည့္ပါ။ အားလုံးဟာ Uncountable Noun မ်ားျဖစ္ေနတာကုိ ေတြ႔ရပါမယ္။ 

 “a little” ကုိ “a few” လိုပဲ အေရအတြက္အားျဖင့္နည္းပါးတဲ့အေျခအေန (Describing a small quantity) မွာ သုံးတာဆုိေပမဲ့ ေရတြက္လို႔မရႏုိင္တဲ့ Noun ေတြအတြက္ဆုိ “a little” ကုိပဲသုံးရပါတယ္။

ဒါေၾကာင့္ a little + uncountable noun ပုံစံျဖစ္တဲ့အတြက္ ၄င္းကုိ တုိက္ရုိက္ေဖာ္ညႊန္းမဲ့ “verb” ဟာလည္းပဲ singular ပုံစံပဲ ျဖစ္ရပါမယ္။

• -      There is a little wine. (uncountable noun)

• -      There is a little bread. (uncountable noun)

အခ်ဳပ္အားျဖင့္ဆုိေသာ္-

-      “a few” ကုိ Countable Noun အတြက္သုံးပါ။

-      “a little” ကုိ Uncountable Noun အတြက္သုံးပါ။
