Conditional Sentence မ်ားအေၾကာင္းသိေကာင္းစရာ (First Conditionals)

• Conditional မိတ္ဆက္အေနျဖင့္ Zero Conditionals အေၾကာင္းကုိ ဒီပုိ႔စ္မွာ ေရးသားတင္ျပခဲ့ျပီးျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ အခု ဒုတိယအေနျဖင့္ First Conditional Sentence မ်ား ေလ့လာၾကပါစုိ႔။

• First conditional sentence မ်ားဟာ ျဖစ္ပ်က္ေတာ့မ၊ဲ့ အမွန္တကယ္ျဖစ္မဲ့ အနာဂတ္အျဖစ္အပ်က္ေတြအတြက္ သုံးပါတယ္။ ဥပမာဆုိၾကပါစုိ႔။

-      "ကြ်န္ေတာ္ ဒီည ရန္ကုန္က ပါတီပြဲတစ္ခုကုိသြားမယ္။ ဒါေပမဲ့ ကြ်န္ေတာ့္ဇနီးကေျပာလိုက္တာက…ကြ်န္ေတာ္လိုက္စီးမဲ့ ကားက ထြက္ခါနီးေနျပီတဲ့…ကားကုိ ကြ်န္ေတာ္ အခ်ိန္မီခ်င္မွ မီမဲ့ အေနအထားျဖစ္ေနျပီ။ ကားမမီခဲ့ရင္လည္း ကြ်န္ေတာ္ တစ္ခုခုေတာ့ စီစဥ္ျပီး ပါတီပြဲကုိေရာက္ေအာင္သြားမယ္။" ဒါဆုိရင္…. သုံးရမဲ့ Conditional မ်ဳိးက First Conditional ပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

• Me: “I’m going to a party in Yangon tonight.”
• My wife: “Hurry up, the bus leaves soon.”
• Me: “If I miss the bus, I’ll take the train.”

-      အထက္ပါစာေၾကာင္းကုိ ေလ့လာၾကည့္ပါ။ “If I miss the bus” ဆုိတဲ့ အပုိင္းက Condition ျဖစ္ျပီးေတာ့ “I’ll take the train” ဆုိတဲ့အပုိင္းက Result ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

-      ဒါေၾကာင့္ condition အပုိင္းက အမွန္တကယ္(true) ျဖစ္ေနတယ္။ Result က မၾကာမီျဖစ္လာမယ္ဆုိတဲ့ သေဘာပါ။

-      အခ်ဳပ္ဆုိရမယ္ဆုိရင္ First conditional က တိက်ေသခ်ာျပီး မျဖစ္ေသးေပမဲ့ တကယ္ျဖစ္လာမဲ့အေျခအေနမ်ဳိး (specific future event) မွာ သုံးပါတယ္။ ဒါေၾကာင့္ zero conditional မွာ သုံးသလို “Fact” ဒါမွမဟုတ္ “Regular Action” အတြက္မသုံးပါ။

Form

အခုေနာက္ထပ္ အသုံးျပဳတဲ့ပုံစံ (form) ကိုေလ့လာၾကည့္ရေအာင္ပါ။

• -      If + condition + result (If I’m late, I’ll call you.) – condition အပုိင္းကုိေရွ႕မွာ သုံးမယ္ဆုိရင္ ၄င္းအဆုံးမွာ comma ထည့္ေပးရပါမယ္။

• -      Result + if + condition (I’ll call you if I late.) – Result အပုိင္းကုိေရွ႕မွာသုံးမယ္ဆုိရင္ comma သုံးစရာမလုိေတာ့ပါ။

Verb Tenses

ဒီအပုိင္းကေတာ့ First conditional မွာ verb ကုိဘယ္လုိပုံစံေတြနဲ႔အသုံးျပဳတာလဲ ေလ့လာၾကရပါမယ္။

• -      If I miss the bus, I’ll take the train.
• -      If I’m late, I’ll call you.

-       “condition” အပုိင္းမွာ “present simple” ကုိသုံးရမွာျဖစ္ျပီး “result” အပုိင္းမွာ “future simple” ကုိ သုံးရမွာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

• -      Condition အပုိင္းမွာ “future simple” ကုိလုံးဝ သုံးလို႔မရပါဘူး။ If I will miss the bus, I will take the the train. လို႔သုံးရင္ မွားပါတယ္။ ဘာလို႔လဲဆုိရင္ condition ရဲ့ ပုံစံ(form) က Present simple ျဖစ္ေသာ္လည္း အဓိပၸာယ္က Future ျဖစ္ေနလို႔ပါပဲ။

Present simple + going to

Result အပုိင္းမွာ will ေနရာမွာ going to + V1 ကုိသုံးႏုိင္ပါတယ္။

• -      If I see her, I’m going to invite her to the party.
• -      If you don’t study, you’re going to fail the exam.

ဒီေနရာမွာ going to သုံးလုိက္ျခင္းက ရုိးရုိး future simple ကုိသုံးျခင္းထက္ Result ကုိပုိျပီးေတာ့ အားေကာင္းေစပါတယ္။ going to က ဘာကုိေဖာ္ျပေပးသလဲဆိုေတာ့ “a strong invention or plan for the future than the future simple” ကုိျပေပးတာပါ။

• အလားတူပဲ အျခား Modal Verb ကုိပါ First conditional မွာ တခါတည္း ေလ့လာၾကည့္ရေအာင္ပါ။

Present simple + modal (may, can, should)

• -      If you do your homework, you may watch television.

ဒီေနရာမွာ “may” ကုိ “permission” အတြက္ သုံးပါတယ္။ ဒါဟာ “formal” အသုံးျပဳပုံပါ။

• -      If you eat your vegetables, you can play in the garden.

ဒီေနရာမွာ “can” ကုိလည္း “permission” အတြက္ သုံးပါတယ္။ ဒါဟာ “informal” အသုံးျပဳပုံပါ။

• -      If you feel ill, you should rest.

ဒီေနရာမွာ “should” ကုိ “advice” အတြက္သုံးပါတယ္။ should ကုိေတာ့ condition အပုိင္းအရ လုပ္ေဆာင္ဖုိ႔ အသင့္ေတာ္ဆုံးအရာအတြက္ အၾကံေပးတဲ့အခါ သုံးပါတယ္။

• ေနာက္ဆုံးအပုိင္းအေနနဲ႔ ေရွ႕ပုိ႔စ္မွာ ေလ့လာခဲ့တဲ့ Zero Conditional နဲ႔ First Conditional ကုိ အနည္းငယ္ ႏႈိင္းယွဥ္ေလ့လာၾကည့္ရေအာင္ပါ။

• -      If you drink too much soda, you get fat. (Zero Conditional)

ဒီအသုံးက ေယဘုယ်အေျခအေန ကုိ ေျပာတဲ့အခါမွာ Zero conditional ကုိသုံးပါတယ္။ ဒီေနရာမွာ “you” ဆုိတဲ့ စကားလုံးက “everyone/ everybody” ကုိရည္ညႊန္းတဲ့အသုံးျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ဘယ္သူမဆုိ ဒီလုိလုပ္ရင္ ဒီလိုျဖစ္တတ္တဲ့ အေျခအေနကုိ ျပခ်င္တဲ့အခါ zero conditional ကုိ သုံးပါတယ္။ ဒါေၾကာင့္ “Fact”  ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

ဒီေနရာမွာေတာ့ “you” ဟာ ေယဘုယ်အေျခအေနကုိ ေျပာခ်င္တာမဟုတ္ဘဲ မိမိရည္ညႊန္းခ်င္ တစ္စုံတစ္ေယာက္ (someone/ somebody)အတြက္သာ သုံးတာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ တနည္းအားျဖင့္ တစ္စုံတစ္ဦးအတြက္ သီးသန္႔ရည္ညႊန္းခ်င္တဲ့အေျခအေနမွာ သုံးတာပါ။

• -      First conditional => specific situation, specific person
